St. Luke’s newest faith community is St. Lucy in Retsof, which opened in 1911 for Italian immigrants laboring in area salt mines. Father Aurelio Poli was the rst pastor. A new church was dedicated in 1965 by Auxiliary Bishop Lawrence B. Casey, with midnight Christmas Mass 1964 being the rst liturgy held there.
In 2006 St. Patrick’s, Holy Angels, St. Mary, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Lucy combined to form St. Luke the Evangelist. The parish also ministers at Livingston County Jail, Groveland Correctional Facility and Livingston Correctional Facility.
