St. Francis
St. Francis, meanwhile, was incorporated in 1869 as a mission parish of St. Agnes. Father Lee led the Phelps parish until 1885, when Father John Nelligan became its rst resident pastor. St. Francis’ longest- serving pastor was Father Edward Simpson, who led the parish from 1919-67. Under his leadership, St. Francis built its current church, which was dedicated by Bishop Francis O’Hern in 1931.
