out a policy equal to all the money we had spent going to Mexico for
          the alternative treatments.

Even though our marriage relationship remained troubled,
over the years I had learned to sort of accept it as it was. It still was a
marriage, our marriage, regardless of what it looked like. I had grown
to concentrate more earnestly on my inner union with Jesus. I began
trying to turn all my trying to fix Fred and his problems over to Him.
To be fair, though, I still struggled with being able to be close to Fred.
I was finding out that I had reached the end of what I could try to do
          in that regard.

Fred’s remission lasted two and half years. Then in 2001 he
began having problems in his wrist. The doctor thought that perhaps
it was carpal tunnel syndrome caused by the motorcycle he had
purchased. However, within a month it began to travel up his arm.
Tests revealed that Fred had a mass in his spinal cord that was in an
area that couldn’t be biopsied or operated on. They told us that the
only thing to do was to wait to see if it was going to remain the same,
go away or continue to grow.
