P. 47

“Deep calls unto deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;
all Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.”

Now tie it into Psalm 77. There are no footprints that His ways may not
be known. The next verse says, “You led Your people like a flock.” All
of that is to say that the Lord and His ways are past finding out.

I do not know what God is doing when His waves come over my head
and knock me down, and then one thing happens after the other. But I
know this. I can trust Him. He does it on purpose. When God moves
in our lives sometimes we get the idea that God has forgotten us, He
does not care, He does not love me anymore. Oh, He does, except His
waves are on the sea so His footprints may not be known. You do not
know what He is doing in your life. You do not have a clue what God is
doing in your life, and that is why it is baffling. But you can trust God.
You can trust God because you are the “apple of His eye”. You can trust
God because He gives you “hind’s feet in high places”.

You can trust God because He puts your tears in His bottle and your
wanderings in His diary. You can trust God because “He walks upon
the water that His footsteps may not be known.”

Here are some more precious figures I hope you spend some time
        meditating on. Psalm 139:17,

“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the
sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.
When I awake, I am still with You.”

Ask God to help you to pull out the stops and believe this with all your
        heart. Psalm 147:3,

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.”

We are told there are over one hundred billion galaxies with one hundred
billion stars in every galaxy. God knows everyone by name. Why does
God tell us He names every star, and the verse right in front of it says
“He heals the brokenhearted”? He never died for a star. If He is that
concerned about the stars and He knows them all by name, He knows
what is going on in your heart and He knows what is going on in mine.
        Psalm 121:4,
