with Him. Many Christians are praising, and promising, and
shouting with their lips. But He is listening to their hearts.
He then brought me to Galatians 4 and I almost fell off my chair.
Paul writes in verse 6 “ Because you are sons, God has sent the
Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father”. It was
then He opened up the whole truth. If you listen to the human heart
it seems to say ab-ba ab-ba ab-ba. I then realized that the
Aramaic word for heart is L’Abba which obviously they got by
putting an ear on someone’s chest.
From the moment of your development in your mother’s womb your
little heart has been crying Abba, Abba, Abba. When you receive
the Lord Jesus His Spirit cries out to His Father in the temple of
your heart and we are in perfect union with the Godhead.
He will bypass the words of your mouth every time to answer the
prayer of your heart. He will bypass a prayer of a moment to answer the
prayer of a life. He is bigger than our prayers. And as we delight in
Him, He burdens us. The full development of that, of course, New
Testament – praying in His will, praying in the Spirit, praying in Jesus’
name. I used to think prayer was work. I had books filed with prayer
needs, big thick ones. At first I had one for the week, and I would get up
early at three o’clock or four o’clock in the morning and just pray
through. Then it got so big I had my Monday prayer book and my
Tuesday prayer book. We had a Hallelujah box, remember that? Every
time God answered we would have the answer recorded and the dates,
and I would pray about everything! Because I thought that’s what you’re
supposed to do. Boy, am I thankful God showed me a better way.
I would say, Lord, give me a burden for souls. I do not need a
burden for souls; I need a burden for Jesus. I need a burden for the
Lord. The best thing I can do for my family is delight myself in the
Lord. If they see me delighting myself in the Lord, He will give me the
desires of my heart. He will give you the desires of your heart. The best
thing you could ever do for your family, for your friends, is to delight
yourself in the Lord. The goal of prayer is not answers. The goal of
prayer is the knowledge of God. He lets you pray so you can fulfill His
will. We pray to know Him. We pray to cooperate with Him. We pray
to have a part in His redemptive program.
So how does this relate to the Royal Psalms? You say, God reigns.
