P. 57
We’re all cut differently, and Christ shines through us uniquely.
Together we give a testimony, and a reputation of God on the
earth. Together, we make a greater influence of light and salt on
the earth. In a special way the Church is His body, “The
fullness of Him that filleth all in all”.
Sometimes we get awfully selfish and introspective. We go off by
ourselves. Well, don’t stop pursuing the Lord on your own. Jesus
told us to enter our closet and shut the door. But recognize, as
well, that God has a corporate testimony. And that can only be
expressed, through our unity.
The first part of the chapter says, God sees us in Christ. The
chapter ends by saying, the world sees Christ in us. The Church
is the fullness of Him that fills all in all. That’s chapter 1.
I’ll ask you to turn to chapter 2, the second summary of our riches
in Christ. Verses 1-10 ,
“When you were dead in your trespasses and sins which you
formerly walked according to the course of this world,
according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit
that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among
them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh,
indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were
by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being
rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved
us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us
alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the
heavenly places, in Christ Jesus, in order that in the ages to
come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in
kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have
been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the
gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should
boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we
should walk in them.”
