Foxes on Campus
It is a little known fact that foxes love finger
foods. With the recent increase fox sightings on
the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus, it is
important to remember that if you do not want
your fingers to become their food you should not
attempt to feed or approach them. While these
animals can seem cute and harmless from afar,
they are wild animals that can pose a safety risk to
humans. Efforts are being made to humanely
capture and relocate the foxes to a safer location.
In the meantime, Medical Center leadership is
asking all employees to follow these guidelines:
Do not feed the foxes under any
circumstances. Feeding a fox can endanger
both the “feeder” and the fox. Intentionally
feeding foxes can lead them to become
unnaturally bold or aggressive. It also brings
them closer to humans, where they may lose their
natural fear of us, other animals and even
vehicles.
Do not approach the foxes. Wild animals
have unpredictable behavior. For their safety and
yours, please stay a safe distance from the
animals.
Help Someone Heal. Donate Blood.
In the time it takes you to read this message, nearly
250 blood products will be used by patients in need.
Your blood enables us to respond to daily disasters—
accidents, cancer treatments, fox attacks and other
procedures necessary for critical patient care--as
well as mass events that strike. Without your selfless
giving, patients could not survive.
You can save up to three lives by donating blood at
our next blood drive, scheduled for February 17-19,
from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Knott Conference
Center. All participants will receive a meal coupon
and special gift. Most importantly, they will take
pride in knowing they saved up to three lives!
