CHAIR’S LETTER

                                                 Dearest Friends and Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Emily Lee, Administrator of the
Imaging Department delivered her son Lucas on January 8th,
mother and baby are doing well. Emily will be back from
                                                 maternity leave in April.

I would like to welcome Gian Bonetti, Director of Ambulatory
Services as the Interim Imaging Administrator. In spite of his
other commitments, Gian has been physically located in the
Department of Imaging and actively supporting our
operations since January. Among his many achievements,
Gian has been instrumental in assigning a new HR recruiter to
the Department of Imaging, to help us fill the several open
positions. More importantly, Gian has been a joy to work
                                                 with. Thanks Gian!

I would be remiss if I did not mention the loss of a member of our Imaging family, Walter Plaine.
While I was not lucky enough to get to know Walter, the recollection of others’ has helped me
come to the realizations that, even though he is gone, he is still here. His presence can be felt in
the kindness and compassion we show to our patients, and to each other. It is through these
actions that we allow his memory and decades of dedication to live on.

Our tumult was then compounded when Kelly Fuchs announced her resignation as Operation
Manager for the Imaging Department, effective March 6th of this year. There is simply no way
around it; Kelly’s departure is a great loss for our department. During her 17 years at Bayview,
Kelly received her MBA degree, and was actively involved in numerous capital projects to
upgrade/replace most equipment in the department. Kelly has also been heavily involved in
harmonization and integration of policies and protocols across the enterprise, and was a key
representative of the Department during the transition to Epic. Kelly has given a great deal while
striving to create a better tomorrow for our imaging family. I would like to wish her the best of
luck in this new path in her career.

Over the next few weeks, Gian and I will schedule regular meetings to address any issues or
concerns that you might have. This will ensure a smooth transition after Kelly’s departure.

While change is never easy, it does provide opportunity. Just over a year ago, change afforded me
the opportunity to serve you in the coveted role of Chair of the Department of Imaging. No words
can express the pride I feel to serve as your Chair. I have been thoroughly impressed with the
strength and resiliency of our team. More so, I have been awestruck with the potential that lies
beneath the already great work displayed on a daily basis.
As always, thank you all for your hard work and dedication to patient care.

           Ihab Kamel, M.D., Ph.D.
