SAFETY

March 10-16, 2019, is Patient Safety Awareness Week!

We must never lose sight of our top priority: achieving the best outcomes for our patients.

We must strive to reduce preventable harm to our patients and to improve clinical outcomes,

utilizing evidence-based practice. We must seek and promote effective partnerships within the

institution to achieve our mission. Central to this work is a shared responsibility to speak up and
speak out. To report any safety concerns, please use the following tips:

                • For immediate hazards, call existing emergency phone numbers.

                • For urgent patient safety concerns, contact your supervisor.

                • Use departmental chain of command for assistance.

                • For compliance questions, please call 1-844-SPEAK2US (1-844-773-2528)

                • Report event in HERO (Hopkins Event Reporting Online).

                • For unresolved concerns, call the Safety Hotline at 410-955-5000.

If you have a concern about misconduct, patient safety, illegal or unethical behavior or

anything else, please call the Johns Hopkins Medicine hotline at 1-844-SPEAK2US. The line is

operated by an external vendor and is open 24/7. If you choose, you may remain anonymous.

Thank you for the work you do every day to care for our patients.
