Drama Scholarships
Drama assessments will be held onThursday 4 February 2021.
A programme and timings will be sent to candidates nearer the time.
Guidelines for Candidates
For entry toYear 7 for external and internal candidates in September 2021.
The productions at St Andrew’s form the backbone of our amazing Drama Department.As well as having had opportunities to perform in recent musicals such as Disney’s Aladdin, Oklahoma and Bugsy Malone, our current drama scholars have also taken part in amazing workshops producing plays from modern comedies to classic Shakespeare. In addition, scholars at St Andrew's Prep often have the chance to work with our younger students to get a taste of directing.With our specialist teachers and a whole array of performance opportunities, there is never a dull moment in the Drama Department.
The Drama assessment will comprise the following:

Candidates will be required to submit a portfolio of programmes or posters of any performances they have been in.The portfolio should also include a review of a live performance they have seen which will be discussed at interview (no more than 300 words)
Two (one minute) monologues (one pre-1980s and one contemporary).These can be any genre from film to Shakespeare, but should be contrasting
A group improvisation session
All candidates will be interviewed by the Headmaster
Candidates should wear their current school uniform.
Candidate’s portfolios must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 20 January 2021.
Candidates who are successful in gaining a drama scholarship will be expected to participate in annual school shows, drama masterclass, LAMDA lessons and maintain a Drama performance portfolio including school plays, theatre reviews of live shows and experience of production of drama on and off stage.
Candidates gaining a Drama award to the School are expected to work hard and contribute positively to the life of St Andrew’s Prep, to be a credit to the School and to set a good example to other pupils.

The closing date for all applications is 5pm on Wednesday 20 January 2021.
The relevant application form can be found on pages 13 and 14. Please note that for external candidates references will be required from the candidate’s current school; the confidential reference form can be found on page 19 and parents should send this to the candidate’s current school for completion by the Head and/or form teacher. References from out of school clubs and organisations will be welcome from all applicants but are not essential.
