Guidance on the selection of your audition material:
Monologues -You are free to choose any monologues which demonstrate your skills.They can be any genre from film to Shakespeare.
Songs/musical performances can be either a song from a musical or classical.We are looking for the approximate levels of experience and achievement in your musical performance
Dance - You are free to choose whichever style(s) show you off to your best ability from ballet, modern, jazz, tap, character.
*If you choose either the MUSIC or DANCE options, component ‘A’ of your Performance should reach the following Minimum Standards
Grade 1-2 standard for Year 5 entry Grade 2-3 standard for Year 6 entry Grade 3-4 standard for Year 7 entry
Candidates should wear their current school uniform but may bring with them comfortable, smart clothing appropriate for their dance
Candidate’s por tfolios must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday 20 Januar y 2021.
During the interviews, candidates will be expected to discuss their performing and general studies and interests, including their involvement in drama, music or dance groups and activities.
Successful Performing Arts scholars will receive free specialist tuition and support in their main discipline for the duration of the award and will be expected to actively engage in school performances/activities as appropriate, and generally support performances in the school.

Candidates gaining a Performing Arts award can expect to be challenged and pushed to achieve their highest personal goals in all three disciplines of Drama, Music and Dance.We are very well connected
at St Andrew’s and Scholars will have access to workshops with West End Professionals and amazing performance opportunities in school and beyond. Scholars are expected to set an example through positive attitude and reliability.We want our scholars to inspire pupils across the school through their performing. We will help them develop a professional work ethic in their attitude to practice and rehearsal.Through technical development and varied performing opportunities we hope to foster a love and appreciation of the Performing Arts that will last for the rest of their life.
The closing date for all applications is 5pm on Wednesday 20 January 2021.
The relevant application form can be found on pages 13 and 14. Please note that references for external candidates will be required from the candidate’s current school; the confidential reference form can be found on page 23 and parents should send this to the candidate’s current school for completion by the Head and/or form teacher. References from out of school music, drama and dance teachers will be welcome from all applicants but are not essential.
