Technical requirement
A. Probe : - Linear (best to view sliding sign,shred sign) or
- Curvilinear (best to view B lines, Pleural effusion, Pneumonia)
B. Mode : - B mode and M Mode
C. Patient Position - Supine (standard) , Semi recumbent , Prone
Ultrasound technique
A. Identify scan area a. Anterior Zones (best to see pneumothorax)
b. Posterior Zones (best to see effusions and consolidations)
B. Ultrasound view - a. Longitudinal view b. Oblique view
C. Any structures you want to view e.g the pleura/ribs - adjust the depth (zoom) setting untill the structures appear in balance in middle of the screen.
