Best of all, they have flip-up seats and even a pop-up table. “More than just a raft, these
are your own personal island
– they’re just fantastic!” says Kim. Again, the quality of the material means they will last for many years before showing any signs of deterioration. “They’re very practical, and a ton of fun.”
Seating that lasts
Indian River’s team will deliver any of their products right to your dock at the cottage. That’s particularly helpful when it comes to heavyweight items like Otter Islands or outdoor furniture.
“Outdoor furniture needs to be light enough that you can move it around, but not so light that the wind will shift it,” says Kim. “C.R. Plastics achieves that balance.”
For more than a decade, Indian River has been carrying furniture made by C.R. Plastics. The furniture
is solid and durable, but its footprint on the planet is light: the Stratford, Ontario firm is the only company in Canada making furniture entirely from recycled plastic.
The company began with a Muskoka chair in just a couple
of colours, but has since expanded to encompass five different lines, including deep seating, picnic tables, pub sets, chaise lounges and a host of other products.
“These products will last and last,” says Kim. “We have clients who bought these chairs from us ten years ago, and they’re still in great shape. We know this because they continue to add to their collection year after year.”
Don’t forget storage. Element Square produces an amazing, durable, weather-proof storage box, available in three sizes. There are many uses for
these stylish boxes: inflatable unicorns, wake surfboards, life jackets, cushions and all the kids toys.
Pedals and paddles
To round out the weekend at the cottage, be sure to offer your family and guests ways to get out on the water by themselves. Pedal boats have been cottage staples for years, and with good reason: they’re hands-down the easiest way to get out on the water.
“It doesn’t matter how old you are, or whether
you know anything about boating, you can get in a pedal boat and take a trip around the bay,” says Kim. “Just grab a lifejacket, a Shirley Temple, safety kit, a water bottle and a friend, and away you go.”
Indian River carries boats by Sun Dolphin, a company that has been making quality pedal boats for more than 35 years.
When it comes to canoes – the other essential cottage boat – Kim looks to a firm that’s even older. Langford Canoes is Canada’s oldest canoe manufacturer, a firm that has been in business for more than 75 years.
Another enjoyable way to explore the lake is kayaking. Indian River carries kayaks for the whole family.
“Stock the dock with durable quality toys and furniture, and talk to us about accessories,” says Kim. “Visit Your Cottage Lifestyle Store, then just sit back and watch the fun take place.”
It’s quiet... for now. DS
