14,000 people attended the free Detroit Symphony Orchestra performance at Metro Beach
in 2008 (you still must pay an entrance fee to get into the beach by car or a fee for boat dockage).
Even for “non” orchestra people, it was very, very good. There was plenty of toe tapping going on
as we knew several of the pieces played, and, the conductor made it even more fun by encouraging
audience participation. This is also a great venue to bring children. They can get the exposure of
concert music, while still having the freedom to get up and walk around.

Last year the concert was at the end of July.
