Get Connected! Truth for us all! Relativity!
August
A college lecturer recently explained how we are all connected by mathematics and
physics…in that (the theory of relativity) is true for all of us. We can eat our food on a
fast moving plane or play tennis on a ship and not give a thought to the speed of our
transportation.
Jesus wanted us to be connected when He said: “You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.…You shall love your
neighbor as yourself.” If you have ever loved someone, you know, you are connected to
them. True love exudes servant-hood; not 50/50 but 100/100% commitment. There is a
positive energy between loved ones.
Wayne Dyer, on MPT, talks of being connected to your Source (my Source is God).
Dyer says “when you have faith, you have an inner knowing; focus on your goal; listen to
God for Him to lead you toward your goal; be like your Source and He will provide ev-
erything: people, money, resources for your goal to happen; be in a state of gratitude; be
thankful for everything; obstacles teach us; even an illness can be a blessing. Bad things
could create an opportunity.”
Paul explained his source of energy in Colossians 1:27, 29 (NRSV) “…God chose to
make known …the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, …For this I toil and
struggle with all the energy that He powerfully inspires within me.” Dyer talks of your
radiating an energy of serenity and peace.
In 1 Kings 11:38 (NRSV) our Lord says, “If you will listen to all that I command you,
walk in my ways, and do what is right in my sight by keeping my statutes and my
commandments, …, I will be with you, ….”
Walking in the ways of God will radiate a positive energy in you. Others will notice
that energy and will be attracted to you. Dyer says we are part of a dynamic energy sys-
tem. Good attracts good and bad attracts bad. The simple act of giving generates posi-
tive energy and produces serotonin in our brains, which makes us feel good. Even
witnessing someone else giving, produces serotonin in us! The dictionary confirms this:
“serotonin is produced in response to pleasure giving experiences…”.
Negative thinking (stinkin’ thinkin’) is toxic waste to your mind and body. It
contaminates your life by creating self-doubt, fear and discontent. It is the very fuel that
creates and sustains a negative internal environment. ‘Stinkin' thinkin’ can eventually
make you sick.
While our mind ignores many things happening inside us, God knows everything and
may act immediately to guide us. Isaiah 58:11 (NRSV) teaches us: “The Lord will guide
you continually.” Therefore, listening for God’s guidance, will help you make your
choices. God created our dynamic energy system, but the freedom of choice to do good
and feel good… is yours! Get connected, love your neighbor as yourself. It is all
relativity. – no pun intended!
