Iowa Home Care Celebrated National Nurses Week
May 6th through the 12th was National Nurses Week and I want to take this opportunity to recognize
my fellow Iowa Home Care nurses. We’ve chosen a profession that requires education, licensure, techni-
cal skill, and a caring and empathetic heart. It’s this combination of required skills and humanness that
elevates us as nurses.
As a nurse, clinical expertise and precision is mandatory. We’re caretakers for our client’s health and well-
being, and there’s no margin for sloppy or indifferent work. However, we all know that our responsibility
goes beyond being a robotic machine. Our clients, and their families, are lonely and scared. They rely on
us for our confidence and comfort; we ease their worries and bring light to their lives.
That’s why I’m so proud to be a nurse, and that’s why we should celebrate our week. We’re professionals
that others depend on for both medical care and emotional support. It’s a tremendous responsibility but
also an extraordinary privilege to be nurse. I salute all of the Iowa Home Care nurses, both during Nurses
Week and year ‘round.
