2. Program Committee
The Program committee provides general oversight and supports programs and services of the
center that achieve the goals of the Strategic Plan. This committee may choose to establish sub
committees to support specific initiatives/pillars or elect to function without sub committees and
develop a chart of work specific to key Advisory Board objectives and community need. If utilized,
examples of typical subcommittees could include:
a. Healthy Living Sub Committee to support to the Center specific programs around the Healthy
Living initiatives (i.e. DPP, LIVESTRONG, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Turkey Trot).
b. Youth Development Sub Committee to support staff in their efforts to nurture the potential
of every youth by supporting programs, identifying program gaps and community needs
and ensuring a high level of execution (i.e. early learning readiness, pre/post-natal,
developmental assets).
c. Teens Sub Committee to identify, recommend, and develop programming to support
signature Y teen programs (i.e. Leaders Club, Y Achievers, Youth in Government, Counselor in
Training, and Leaders in Training).
3. Social Responsibility Committee
The Social Responsibility Committee will provide strategic oversight for family center fundraising,
volunteerism and partnerships to ensure successful delivery of our mission and cause. Key focus
areas will include:
a. Identify qualified volunteer leadership needed to achieve financial development goals
b. Ensure successful best practices executed for Annual Giving Campaign, Capital Campaigns
and Stewardship
c. Make recommendations regarding the development and cultivation of major gifts and
partnerships from individuals and from corporate/community organizations and foundations
d. Supporting mission and community development programs (i.e. Mobile Swim Safety Around
Water, Angel Tree)
RECOGNITION
Each advisory board will develop a program to recognize volunteers for their service and identify
activities that provide purpose and personal fulfillment for their time and commitment to the Y.
Activities could include:
• Immediate one-on-one onboarding by Executive Director
• Bi-annual celebrations of key accomplishments and milestones
• Tenure recognition (1 year, 3 years, etc)
• Networking events with key community leaders and/or other advisory board members
• Celebration and recognition of retiring Advisory Board members
