   COMMITTEES
Section 1: Organization
1. Standing committees of the Advisory Board shall include Board Development, Program, and Social Responsibility. Additional committees or task forces are appointed by the Board Chair from time to time to address specific Center needs. Sub-committees of the standing committees are appointed as needed by the chair of the standing committee in consultation with the Board Chair and Center Executive.
2. Standing committees must have Advisory Board representation and the chair of the committee must be an Advisory Board Member. At large members may include members or other volunteers nominated by the Center Executive and approved by the Advisory Board.
3. The Center Advisory Board shall adopt a written commission statement (see appendix) that outlines the responsibility of each committee which includes:
• Committee goals
• Reporting Requirements • Y staff liaison
• Committee composition
4. Standing committees of the Advisory Board shall meet at a minimum of four (4) times a year and additionally as may be required. It is highly recommended that all Advisory Board Members serve on a committee.
5. The chair of each standing committee shall assist the staff person assigned to the committee to recruit qualified persons to achieve the work of the committee.
Section 2: Committee Descriptions
1. BoardDevelopmentCommittee
a. Implement the Association Plan (adopted by Oversight Committee) to identify, interview, screen, orient, evaluate, and propose members to be elected and reelected to the Advisory Board.
b. Attract diverse candidates; considering the immediate and long-term needs of the Center and community.
c. Attract candidates that reflect the community and membership at large.
d. Provide an initial orientation for individual candidates at the time of nomination and assign a mentor.
e. Include in the recruitment/interview process a meeting in which a member of the committee and officer of the Advisory Board and the Center Executive meet personally with each candidate.
