 A HEALTHY
SOLUTION
Staying healthy is key to boosting our immune system during a pandemic. As a community leader in health and wellness, the YMCA of the Suncoast helps families understand the importance of physical activity and a balanced diet.
When the health crisis started
in March 2020, there was a critical need to feed families and the Y did its part to fight food insecurity, serving even more families during this time of need. In partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay and other regional food banks, the Y served as a food distribution site for families in need.
But being healthy isn’t just physical. To be truly healthy, a person must feel like he/ she is part of a community. For instance, during the Y’s
temporary closure due to COVID-19, YMCA staff reached out to senior members to prevent social isolation and lift their spirits. The YMCA team also produced virtual resources to help community members stay active, healthy and connected
in their own home. Additionally, blood drives hosted at YMCAs have positively impacted thousands of lives in 2020.
Since our safe re-opening on May 18, 2020, the YMCA of the Suncoast has been welcoming back families as they work to
improve their health and well- being in spirit, mind and body. WATCH the ways the Y remains committed to providing a safe, clean and healthy environment for all:
