We would like to introduce you to Joseph. Sweet Joseph is the youngest
baby in the home. He was born in April to a young teen mother, who had
recently been through great trauma. Despite much encouragement and
being assured that she would receive ongoing support from Ken and
Cathy, she did not feel that she would ever be able to parent Joseph and
she stated that she wished for him to be placed immediately into their
care while they search for an adoptive family for him. Many times
Ugandan newborns are brought to the baby home after they have been
abandoned somewhere, sometimes in dirty or unsafe locations, so we
are glad that in Joseph’s case his birth mother had the foresight to make
            an adoption plan for him.

He has adjusted very well to life at the home and quickly become a favorite of all the Nannies and the
staff. He has been eating very well and sleeps through the night.

An adoptive family is being sought for Joseph, but because of Ugandan cultural beliefs, it is much
harder to place him in a Ugandan family since he is a boy. And because of recent program changes,
international adoption is only an option for Joseph if the family is able to reside in Uganda for at least
one year. Ken and Cathy are continuing to investigate options for this precious little one, including
hopefully finding a foster family for him while he waits for adoption. We will keep you updated.
