   1974 Biography 2018
General Practice, Barbados
After graduation in 1974, my next move was to Mumbai India where I met and married my husband Kishore Samtani. Medicine is a most rewarding career but I hasten to add that being a wife and mother comes first, and that this was the crowning glory of my life. My two sons Jai and Hemant allowed me to perceive life through their eyes and I am truly blessed. Raising a family is something we are not fully prepared for but the examples of my parents and their support saw me through the difficult times. My husband was utterly devoted to me. Sadly after 42 years of marriage... I lost the only one who ever loved me so much last year in a motor vehicle accident last September. Thank God I have the most beautiful memories of our recent tranquil vacation together in Sydney Australia last summer where my younger son lived.
The academic bug started to bite after graduation and I did a Diploma in Venereology in Liverpool in 1981 and a Diploma in family medicine in 2006.I joined the National HIV/AIDS Commission in the late 90’s and worked with a team of stakeholders in preparing and implementing an ABSTINENCE MODULE for primary school children on Barbados. As I prepare to retire I can say that being a Family Physician has truly made me grow emotionally and spiritually.
But my greatest accomplishment is the journey I now traverse on the Spiritual Path. This has been my salvation and indeed calling. This human birth has been given to us to seek God and I am going home. The road is not easy but I am blessed as I have found the Perfect companion to help me in my sojourn. Meanwhile life is to be lived and I am trying to pick up the pieces of my life since Kishore left me and enjoy some tranquility and peace as I plan my retirement. I am fortunate to have been picked to travel the road before me. I thank Almighty God for all the blessings he has showered me with. I am happy to have the opportunity to renew the ties we forged in Jamaica. God bless each and every one of us.
