The children in Year 1 explored different types of signs and symbols and the information they
portray. They had the opportunity of sharing their understanding of different signs and
symbols they came across in the course of travelling.
In year 2, each class prepared something to share with other children.
One class performed non-verbal signs which children in the year group had to interpret.
Another class had cut-out signs and symbols to be matched to words and phrases, and the
third class role-played virtues like, responsibility, respect and sensibility.
The exercise was both informative and educative for both children and teachers- highlighting
the level of preparedness for the topic.
Year 3 had a fantastic start to their
new unit about ‘Signs and Symbols’
with a short introduction to the topic
in class. The children ‘invented’ their
own symbols to warn people about
various things – from ‘No Noise!’ to
‘Zoo Ahead!’ and many more.
