type of bill in the United States that packages many of
the smaller regular appropriations bills into one larger
single bill that could be passed with only one vote in
each house. The bill rebuffs the Trump administration’s
efforts to sharply scale back the reach and scope of the
federal government. The bill funded the government for
the 2018 fiscal year, which always begins on October 1
and was already almost halfway over at the time of the
signing.
