10 McDonald’s New Style Planting Scheme
10.1 The proposed planting scheme will lend
loosely from the ‘Parterre’ style of garden design
and have the following elements;
- Tightly clipped low growing hedging plants
to surround each bed to ‘frame’ planting,
planted at high densities to give instant
uniform effect.
- Large specimen plants positioned centrally
within the bed at low densities to give height
and instant impact.
10.2 The range of plant species used is
intentionally kept to a minimum. The plants
have been carefully chosen for their visual
appearance, availability and especially for their
durability over time (see appendix 1).
10.3 Refer to McDonalds’ Landscape
Specification Part 2 - for detailed specifications
relating to sourcing and quality of nursery stock,
required ground preparation standards etc.
10.4 It is especially important that the correct
horticultural standards are adhered to as much
of the stock is of initial high value.
10.5 Avoid planting specimen plants directly
through grass as they are likely to be damaged
with strimmers and mowers
10.6 All planting to be offset min 300mm from
kerb edges and surrounding lawns for ease of
maintenance.
10.7 See attached PLANT SPECIFICATION
CARDS for suitable plant species
