Project 5: Exquisite corpse

Exquisite Corpse’ was the theme for this project. The brief stipulated that each group come up
with one final artwork which represents different personal attributes. Thorough investigation with

regards to understanding oneself as well the factors that make us who we are, played an intricate
part in developing a successful concept and final artwork. The term ‘Exquisite Corpse’ refers to a
collective drawing done by various artists who all contribute to the final image displayed. The

name resulted from a game played by surrealist artists Yves Tanguy, Jacques Prѐvert, Andrѐ
Bretonand and Marcel Duchamp. This drawing approach was invented in Paris in 1925 (Tate).

This was a group project. We had to work on one final thing that represented our individual
personalities all together. We decided to make a collage for our personalities and we wanted to

print it onto a cape but we failed to do so hence we sewed it on. It was a good experience
making a garment from stretch and oce again exploring different potentials that I was not aware
I had.
