They look up to the hills. Switch to Ben and Tracey in the car.
(Ben) Tracey, you know I love you, don’t you? (Tracey) Yes, I do. I love
you too Ben, but you’re going to have to respect me and my feelings. (Ben)
I’m sorry about today. I’m afraid my dreams have taken control of my
life.
At that moment, they pulled up to Engine Joe’s and ran into seven of
their friends out front talking about the lack of work and opportunity
on the reservation.
(Gate Guard’s son) Who needs land if you don’t have any money? (Roy)
You’re right. We need work and better schools. (Gate guard’s son) Yeah,
people laugh when they think of Indians. Hey, rich boy Ben, come here.
(Ben) What trouble are you starting up now, Ed? (Gate Guard’s son) No,
rich boy. I have a question. Since you went to that white boy college in
New York, how did they treat you knowing you were an Indian? (Ben) I
had friends in college. (Gate Guard’s son) No, how did they treat you?
(Ben) You’re not going to get me involved in a discussion about how our
people were lied to, cheated and had their land stolen by the white man.
