the cadets of West Point Military School in the United States.
Major General Lam Quang Thi,Commander-in-chief of
the VNMA,was a great supporter for the VNMA Diploma
to be recognized as equivalent to the Bachelor of Science in
Humanities and Engineering. General Thi att ended many
meetings with the Inter-Institute Council of the Universities
of Saigon, Hue,Dalat, and Can Tho to present the school's
cultural curriculum according to the credit system. The
strongest advocate in recognizing the equivalency for VNMA
graduates was Professor Le Thanh Minh Chau, President of
           The University of Hue.
As a result, the diploma of the VNMA students (4-year
program) from class 22B was recognized by the Ministry of
Education as equivalent to the bachelor's degree in Humanities
and Engineering from national universities in these fi elds.
Students graduating from The VNMA were recognized as
well-rounded students in military as well as cultural abilities.

To meet the conditions specified by the Ministry of
Education, the Da Lat National Military School proposed to
the Ministry of National Defense to recruit civilian professors
to consolidate the permanent teaching staff for the fourth

year students of class 22B to start the cultural season from
           December 1968.
I was named in a Mission Order signed by the Ministry of
Defense in mid-October 1968 to become professor of History
and Humanities at this Military School along with two
other civil professors, Bui Dinh Ri (Master of physics from
University of Sai Gon ) and Tu Vo Hao (Electrical Engineer,
graduated from Canada University ). Being invited to teach
at the University of Dalat was a great honor for me because
when I got a Master of History from Sai Gon University, I
was only 26 years old. However, being appointed professor at
the National Military Academy, the largest Military school in
Southeast Asia at that time, was, indeed,a great pride for my

youth when I started my first career in life.
This writing is dedicated to recounting the unforgett able,
sweet memories of this dear Vietnamese National Military
           Academy.
