COURSE: ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT SEMESTER COURSE: 10 credits COURSE CODE: TEAE GRADES: 9, 10, 11, 12 PREREQUISITE: Identified as Limited English Speaking
This class is an individualized, structured course designed to teach the English language skills of speaking, reading comprehension, and writing to students of limited English ability. The course is taught in English using a variety of methods and materials, which will enable the student to succeed in the English-only classroom setting.

The Student Leadership class is required of all elected and appointed Associated Student Body officers. It affords practical daily experience in democratic leadership through management of student co-curricular activities. It provides opportunities to study meaning and techniques of state laws, school finance (problems of income and expenditures), group processes, the principles of administration as related to student activities. The Student Leadership class provides for self- evaluation and for evaluation of individual, group democratic leadership, and the planning and organizing of student council pep rallies, dances, assemblies, elections, service and social activities, and other events.

The purpose of Link Crew it to train LINK leaders to facilitate and run the one-year freshmen transition program. Link leaders will participate in a number of activities during the Link crew class. These activities include training for Link alerts and Link follow through, and design and implementation of Link crew activities. There will be emphasis on developing both written and oral communication skills, organization skills, and leadership skills. To help develop these skills, students will be asked to give presentations on a variety of subjects as well as create written documents.

Journalism emphasizes a variety of writing skills required by the modern journalist including the writing of new, features, critical reviews, editorials, and sports. Reading and analysis of relevant literature, critical thinking, and research skills are required. This class is the prerequisite for Newspaper.
