What is the name of the Father? The answer is in the word of God. The answer is known throughout the Old Testament as well as the New Testament. John 5:43, “I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” John 10:25, “Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bare witness of me.” John 10:30, “I and my Father are one.” Revelations 14:1, “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.”
Look at John 7:37-39. Jesus is referring to himself as being one with the Father, or one could also say the Holy Spirit since God the Father is the Holy Spirit. 37.) “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. 38.) He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39.) (But this spake he of the Spirit which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” The Holy Ghost was not yet experienced by mankind by the infilling (receiving of God’s spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues). The scripture of old prophecy prophesied that God would provide himself a sacrifice as a lamb for sinners slain. The Holy Ghost is not and was not a second person of deity waiting to jump on the scene. In this passage of scripture, Jesus is once signifying the relationship of power and authority as related in Joel 2:28-29, 28.) “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29.) And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.”
John 8:18, “I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.” Now notice the question directed to Jesus in verse 19. Also, notice the answer that was given in response to the direct question. 19.) “Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, you should have known my Father also.” Remember Jesus’ statement in John 10:30, “I and my Father are one.” There is no inclination of two separate entities, deities, persons, or personages. What a tremendously great revelation that was given by Jesus, which is still revealed to mankind today, concerning the oneness of God. Abraham also had that great revelation given to him by God, yet he was not able to see the fruition of his enlightenment come to pass in the New Testament era. Jesus made statement of this in John 8:56-58, 56.) “Your Father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57.) Then said the Jews unto him, thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham. 58.) Jesus said unto them, Verily, Verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” Jesus was not indicating that he was co-eternal or co-existing with God the Father as one deity and God the Holy Spirit as the third deity of the Godhead. He spoke as in the flesh
.
John 10:37-38, 37.) “If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38.) But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.”
