but the old Greek manuscripts read, To the acknowledgment of the mystery of the God Christ; and so there are other diversities between the old text and the present one;”
The original “The God Christ” is a very different meaning from the later Catholic Trinitarian pluralistic multiple-gods text in the later Greek manuscripts. In the later Catholic Greek, one might think that there is a God and a God the Father and a God the Son and a God the Holy Ghost. This would make four Gods in the Godhead. However, the old Greek informs us that Jesus is the one true God. So much false doctrine and misinformation is caused by a lack of understanding of Textual Criticism and advanced study.
The Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible edited by George Buttrick, Vol. 4, 1962, (1996 print), pages 594-595 informs us of the historical facts that: “Many thousands of the variants which are found in the [Catholic Greek] MSS of the NT were put there deliberately. They are not merely the result of error or of careless handling of the text. Many were created for theological or dogmatic reasons. It is because the books of the NT are religious books, Sacred books, canonical books, that they were changed to conform to what [Catholic Trinitarian] copyist believed to be the true reading. This is precisely the attitude toward the NT which prevailed from the earliest times [ca 120/150 AD] to the Renaissance, the Reformation, and the invention of printing.”
Eusebius records in his, The History of the Church, 4.29.6. the following: “It is said that he (Tatian) was bold enough to alter some of the Apostle’s expressions as though trying to rectify their phraseology.”
The Origin of the Bible, Tyndale, PW Comfort, page 153: “The Translators paraphrased, added explanatory glosses, often boldly reinterpreted the text according to the (Trinity/Arian) theological biases of their time.”
The Orthodox Corruption of Scripture Professor Ehrman on page 75 informs us that the Catholic Church added to Mark 1:1 the spurious words “the Son of God.”
“Mark entitled his book “The Beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” and proceeded to narrate that first significant event of Jesus’ life, his baptism and the accompanying revelatory experience. In order to circumvent an adoptionistic reading of this inaugurating event, early orthodox Christian scribes made a slight modification of Mark’s opening words, so that now they affirm Jesus’ status as the Son of God...” [Jesus is reduced into being a second divine Person in a mythical triadic Trinity.]
The New Testament and Criticism 1974, pages 67 and 68, written by George Eldon Ladd former Professor of New Testament Exegesis and Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary. Professor Ladd also confirms the historical fact that the Catholic/Orthodox Church placed “Son of God” interpolations into the Scriptures to help prop up and promote their false Trinity doctrine. Textual criticism proves that this early Catholic creed is not a real Scripture!
