5.1 Biblical Arguments for the Creation of Man
A Literal Teaching of Scripture
Atheistic evolutionists try to discredit the Word of God. Theistic evolu tionists trying to explain the creation process using figurative speech are in danger of bringing into question the power of God. Even if evolutionists could prove their theories, they still would not be able to give a factual explanationastowherethebeginningofallmattercamefrom. Wheredid the "big bang" matter come from? When God said "let it be" the spoken wordbroughtitintoexistence. Youcannothavesomethingcreatedfrom nothing of its own accord.
In Genesis 1:27, the Bible clearly states that God created man in His own image and likeness. (See also Genesis 1:26,27; 5:1; 9:6; 4:25; Psalm 104:30; Isaiah 45:1^ I Corinthians 11:7-9; Genesis 2:7.) God formed man out of the dust of the ground, breathed through his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7; Job 32:8; 33:4; 34:14-15; Psalms 100:3; 103.14,Ecclesiastes12:7;ICorinthians15:45). Itisclearlyseenfromthese scriptures that man's body was created from the dust of the earth.
The literal scriptural explanation of the creation of man gives a sound foundationforredemptionwithasounddignityofbeing. WhenAdamand Eve were created they were formed distinctly and differently, as male and
emale. IfitweretruethatAdamandEvewereofsubhumanmatterbefore

maean female. Genesis2:7statesthatAdamwasformedfirstintheimage and likeness of God, then Eve was formed from the rib taken from Adam's side (Genesis 2:21-23; I Corinthians 11:8; Matthew 19:4).
B The Distinction Between Human and Animal Flesh
When man was formed, he was formed from the dust, not from pre-exis- tentlivingmatter. Whenmandies, hereturnstothedustfromwhencehe was created, and not to a subhuman form of matter. Man became a living
soul (Genesis 2:7) and a living creature (Genesis 1:27) when the breath of God was breathed into his nostrils. He was created with two natures: (bipar tite)thematerialandimmaterial. Withinthematerial, avarietyoffeatures
exist, arteries, heart, brain, muscles, bones, hair, etc. Withintheimmaterial exist: will, conscience, knowledge, etc. The spirit brings oneness to the two natures of man. Physical death is the only thing that can separate the two aspects of man (I Thessalonians 5:23).
