116 ♦ Bible Writers'Theology Chapter Six
• Evil angels cooperate to do evil (Matthew 25:41; Ephesians 6:12;
• • •
Revelation 12:7-12).
They cause mental and physical disorders (Matthew 9:32-33; 12:22; Luke 9:37-42; 11:14; Mark 5:1-16).
Unclean spirits lead men into moral uncleanness (Matthew 4:24; Mark 5:8-14; Luke 8:2; Acts 8:7,16:16; Jude 5-9).
Evilangels make men fortune tellers (Exodus 7:11; II Chronicles 18:19- 22;Daniel 2;Jeremiah 27:9;Micah 5:12; Nahum 3:4; Acts 16:16-18; Acts 8:9-24; 13:6-12; Revelation 9:21).
The Bible warns us to try every spirit (I Corinthians 12:10; I John 4:1), and not to have fellowship if they are evil (Leviticus 19:31; I Corinthians 10:20). Christians must put on the whole armor of God to fight the good fight against the devil (Ephesians 6:10-18; James 4:5-10; I Peter. 5:8,9).
6.5 The Destiny of Angels
•
destiny of faithfi^l angels is eternal joy living with God, serving Idngdom. Saints of God and good angels will live a glori
ous life in the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1).
The destiny of the fallen angels, along with Lucifer, is to be bound in chains in darkness until they are cast into the lake of fire, where they will be for eternity (1 Samuel 2:9; Job 15:20-30; Jude 6; II Peter 2:4;
Revelation 7-10; 20:1-3; 21:8).
6.6 Christ was not an Angel from Eternity
^I'eve that the angel that appeared to the patriarchs in
phrases* ^ days was Christ. They misinterpret the following Bible
^nesis 48:16: "The Angel which redeemed me from all evil." (See Psalms 34:7; 91:11.)
• Genesis 32:24-30: "... and there wrestled a man with him."
• Exodus3:2-8:"AndtheangeloftheLORDappeareduntohim."
Exodus M:20-23: "Behold, 1send an Angel before thee...for my name is in him...For mine Angpl shaU go before thee."(See Josh. 5:13; Dan. 10:5).
In the ^ve-mentioned scriptures, angels were not a theophany or the ^rsonofGodorChrist. TheywereangelsthatweresentfromGod,inHis Name. Exoduschapter23,verses20-23uncoverthemissionoftheangelsof the Lord: Behold, I send an angel before thee, to keep thee in the way ..for my name is in him. This indicates that neither God, nor the Word of God, nor the Holy Spirit was an angel, as many theologians think. The three angels in Genesis 18 that came to Abraham do not show a natural manifes tation of God. One of the angels that was speaking to Abraham in the name of God was known as the angel of His presence.
