the Holy Ghost and the place where they were assembled was shaken, and they "spake the word of God with boldness". In Acts 5, we see them still standing fearlessly declaring the Name of Jesus before the threatening Phcirisees. In Acts 7, Stephen by the power of the Holy Ghost gives a s u p e r b summary of the whole history of Israel moments before his death. When being stoned, he saw heavens opened and Jesus standing on the right hand of God. In Acts 8, Philip was commissioned by an angel and was "caught
away" by the spirit of the Lord at the end of his task in the desert.
In Acts 9, Saul of Tarsus is miraculously converted on the road to Damascus after his face to face encounter with the risen Lord. In Acts 10, a Roman centurion and his household were gloriously filled with the Holy Spirit. In II Corinthians 12, the Apostle Paul relates a supernatural experi ence, where he found himselfcaught up to the third heaven. Here are men who saw tl^eir God face to face, experienced dramatic changes of life, and will stand through the ages as illustrious witnesses to the existence of God for all those who would doubt.
Taking heed to the prophetic utterance of the Apostle Paul, the challenge is also unto a lukewarm Christendom: "Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof..." (II Timothy 3:5). We must "earnestly contend
for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints;" Qude 3), to be able toeffectivelywitnesstheLordJesusChristtotheworld (SeeActs1:8).
