316 ♦ Bible Writers' Theology Chapter Ten
Christ shall return with the same body that He had after the resurrection. Acts 1:11 says, "... this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." This same Jesus shall come again in His own person, with a glorious body (Luke9:28-36).
L The Order of Resurrection
The Bible tells us that there is order of precedence in resurrection. Not all will rise in the first resurrection. I Corinthians 15:23-24 states "But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's
at his coming."
10.4 First Resurrection
Only saints that put on Christ by faith in water grave, will rise and reign with Christ for a thousand years (Revelation 20:4-6; 1Thessalonians 4:14-18; Galatians 3:26-29; Isaiah 26:19; Colossians 2:11-14; Romans 8:1-3; vv. 29-30; I John 1:1-3 ). The order of resurrection:
A
The Firstfruit
Jesus Christ the firstfruit (I Corinthians 15:23).
Matthew 27:52-53, "And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose. And came out of the graves after his res urrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many."
B
• It has to be noted that after Jesus' resurrection, the Old Testament saints also arose as firstfruits and entered into the holy city (Isaiah 26:19; I Peter 3:18-21; 4:6).
The Rapture of the Church
• •
I Thessalonians 4:16-17, "... the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
0 Those who Come out of Great Tribulation
These are the tribes of the children of Israel (Revelation 20:4) and shall reign with Christ and the Church saints for a thousand years (Revelation 7:13-17). All the above stated in sections A, B, and C, though they seem to rise in three orders of the first resurrection, will reign with Christ for one thousand years.
D The Second Resurrection
This is the resurrection of those outside the Kingdom of God: Gentiles, and Christians who are disobedient to His word. This is the last resurrec tion.
