The Lord Said Go
humbly asked permission to preach. The missionaries uneasily agreed after a long discussion.
Tekle and Erkenesh sang a duet, then Erkenesh testified of the joyful changes in her life after she received her personal Pentecost. Tekle read from the second chapter of Acts about the outpoiuring of the Holy Ghost and said, "Let us pray."
Instantly, a great wave of God's presence swept across the auditorium. Everyone fell on his knees, some prostrate upon the floor. Some wept and groaned in repentancewhile others rejoiced. After a while, those who were weeping began to praise the Lord and dance, and seventy of them began to speak fluently in strange languages. About this time the Ethiopian elders and the missionaries rushed out of the hall, evidently preferring to watch the unusual happening through the window. About half the congregation received a mighty filling of the Holy Ghost.
"I did not get to bring the message God gave me last night. I would like to give it tonight, if you will kindly give your permission." Tekle's respectful humility changedthe disapproval the frowning leaders had planned to express, and they ungraciously gave him another chance.
He had hardly reached the pulpit when the Spirit came as a powerful wind and took control of the worshipers. All who were not filled with the Spirit in the Saturday night service and who desired to be filled received their own experience with exuberant shouts of joy and danc ing. The elders and the missionaries hurried angrily to their usual place outside to watch through the windows.
