9 The Lord Said Go
''Tekle and his wife allowed a new missionary to baptize them in a strange manner. Tekle even read from John and declared that this new baptism would set him free." The Full Gospel Believers hurried to share the startling news with their elders. Confused and disturbed, they chose a reputable leader to investigate the matter.
He came to the Wendells' service that Sunday night and heard both Tekle and Erkenesh witness of the over whelming joy that came to them after baptism in the name of Jesus.
On his return, the leader's report triggered a furious discussion after which the presiding elder summarized their feelings: "W e esteemed Brother Teklemariam highly and thought him to be a great man of God—his messages have touched the hearts of thousands—but now he has become a heretic. We must make plans to discredit him, else his wide influence will deceive many into following his error."
They all agreed.
