When Salome took him home, he ran up and down the yard praising the Lord at the top of his voice for the re mainder of the day.
He always fasted forty days once a year at Easter. At the close of one fast, he came out of his room leaping. Those who beheld him in amazement later testified that the Spirit held him a yard above the floor while he proph esied, "A mighty revival will sweep across Ethiopia. Great miracles will be done in the name of Jesus. The Holy Ghost will be poured upon you, my friends."
He turned to Ayele, Marta's teenage son. "You, my son, will be filled with the Spirit and will become a preacher of the gospel."
Ayele turned away, not pleased with the prophecy concerning him.
Slowly, Paulus settled to the floor and in a different tone said, "I've had a call from my Father. He said that I am tired and have worked enough; He will take me home."
The yoimger children cried and begged him not to go. He looked slowly around the room at his friends and said softly, "My blood will flow to pay my dues for the revival."
When he went to stay with another family that he often visited, no one at Asfaw's house realized that he would not return. He asked a friend to buy him some funeral clothes. She refused, saying, "No, I will not give you up."
As Paulus walked through town on Christmas day, a car struck him. Ayele heard the cry, "Accident! There's been an accident!" He ran to the scene, and there lay the old Dutchman dead in the road. His blood trickled slowly toward the gutter.
