Opposition and wild predictions continued; however, month followed month and none of the dire things foretold for Tekle happened. Sadly, many of those who prophesied against him suffered the fate they predicted for him, and others backslid. The furor hindered revival. A backlash of rumors caused even the faithful to neglect their finan cial responsibility to God's work. Without tithe-payers Tekle and Erkenesh suffered acute need.
The Lord answered their cry for help in an unusual way: Mrs. Simyiva from Yirga-Alem drove seventy-five kilometers to Awasa to bring them two hundred birr. "The Lord has ordered me to give you this amount every month."
She always came after dark, parked her car several blocks away, and walked to their house—a secretive raven who came regularly. Two years later, she developed cancer and returned to her native Norway to end her days. By the time her support ended, a number had been bap tized in the name of Jesus and had obeyed the Bible's com mand to tithe.
