18 The End Is Not Yet
E/rkenesh went deep into the valley at the birth of her last child. Tekle returned from another conference in Jerusalem to find her suffering in great pain. Before he could change clothes a messenger came with the sad news of the death of Tamru, Erkenesh's oldest brother. Since she could not possibly travel to Kambata, a distance of 350 kilometers, Tekle had no choice but to accompany the messenger in her place. He returned three dayslater, and fifteen days later, on December 24, 1981, Yasu (Joshua) was born into the family. They chose his name to show their faith in and anticipation of the heavenly Canaan.
Under the considerate leadership of John Harris, the church in Ethiopia and her leaders cherished a Jonathan- David relationship with him. He is remembered for tremendous sermons, fourteen church buildings that he helped to build (four of them major projects), numerous gifts of love, and delivering Tekle from taxis!
