came by, recognized the sound from heaven coming from inside the church, and explained the Scriptures to the preachers.
He offered to take them to the Apostolic presbyter of Alata-Wondo, one hundred kilometers away, who could teach them more. They went, were taught by Zerihun, received the baptism of both water and Spirit, returned to tell their churches what had happened to them, and told the people what they should do. Zerihun came and baptized six hundred people in the name of Jesus in one day.
The same wonderful, simultaneous outpouring ofthe Holy Ghost came to sixteen Lutheran churches as the Apostolic preachers witnessed to them. Nineteen Apos tolic churches were now in the region with 3120 born- again members. Godana Haro became presbyter ofJem- jem and Borana provinces.
Tekle came to America for the first time in 1984to attend the general conference in Anaheim, California. On the second day he told me his wife had gone to Jemjem District for a conference and should be home by then, but no one answered the phone at their home in Addis.
"Keep trying, Tekle," I said. "You need to hear from her."
I watched him worship in the service that night and thought. No one would guess that the threat of a serious problem is hanging over his head.
No news came the next day.
He came to me the following morning and said calm ly, "I havelearnedthatmywifeisinjailinKebre-Mengist in Jemjem."
