him if he tried to preach? Surely Satan has sent this manifestation to delude me, he reasoned. For two weeks the vision hovered before him continually, creating such turmoil in his mind that he could not go anywhere or even converse with his friends.
He rebuked the vision often, but it did not fade until he consulted with a missionary. "Brother Cubarn, I have a problem. I cannot tell you what it is, but please pray to the Lord about it and tell me what He reveals to you."
"Why don't you tell me, Tekle?"
"No, I will not discuss it," he answered stubbornly. "Let the Lord show you."
When Mr. Cubarn saw him coming the next morn- ing, he ran rejoicing to meet him and gave him a hearty hug.
"Listen to what the Lord has said: 'I am Alpha and Omega, unchanging Jesus, Lord and God. I have called my servant to minister the gospel. He will bring the shin ing light of truth to this people. Tell him not to doubt,
but to go to Mekele and dedicate himself to the ministry. I will be his shield and lead him in the way I want him to go and will provide for his needs.' He also told me to give you twenty birr for your transport to Mekele."
I have always believed Mr. Cubarn to be a sincere man of prayer, Tekle thought. How could he be deceived if he has the same message I received? Still resisting the call, however, he responded, "Why wouldn't God rather call respected men for His service—men such as bishops and monks?"
"No, Brother Tekle, God calls whomever He wills," the missionary answered sternly. "I have heard from the Lord. God, not Satan, told you this thing. You must obey
