the voice of the Lord without doubting. If you are disobe dient, you may even die. I ask you to consider your deci sion seriously."
Shaken by the missionary's words, but still doubting, Tekle decided to ask Godfor a sign. He prayed in his heart (lest Satan hear) the most unlikely thing he could think of; "Lord, let someone else give me fifteen birr this very day for a bus ticket to Mekele. Then I will believe that the vision and the call came from You."
He went to the center of town and saw a Mend, Gebra Haywat. As they greeted, the man took fifteen birr from his pocket and put it in Tekle's hand. Tekle stood in shock for several moments, unable even to say thank you. Why did I come this way? he wondered.
Mr. Cubam asked him to testify in the afternoon ser vice, and he felt God's anointing as never before. Later, searching his pockets for money to pay a bill at a restaurant, he found an envelope containing 150 birr. His thoughts whirled in agitation. This is a test to see if I will return it to the chapel.. .or maybe it's counterfeit money.
He found a note from a missionary lady tucked be tween the bills: "God told me to give you this money for whatever you need." Altogether, he received 195 birr that week in unexpected gifts.
Four days later Tekle saw Mr. Cubarn again. "How long will you be stiff-necked and hesitate to do God's will, Tekle?" he questioned. "Spend the night with me tonight, and I will see that you get on the bus for Mekele to morrow."
On the bus Tekle felt moved to testify to the man sit ting beside him. The man, deeply moved, began to weep and pray. When the bus reached the man's destination.
