CULINARY TEAM
As part of the experience TAFE Queensland Gold Coast’s Commercial Cookery teacher Reg Morgan hosted a Bush Tucker Masterclass so that the visi ng students could get to experience Australian Bush tucker. Therea er the compe tors a ended a Chocolate Workshop in the a ernoon before they a ended the evening dinner at 5.30pm.

for Senior Hospitality school students.
The students have 1 hour to show case their cookery skills and work as a team to produce four a la carte restaurant meals, and a prac ce took place on Wednesday morning 26 September at TAFE Southport’s Hospitality Hub. This compe on
was judged by the Australian Culinary Federa on in a commercial kitchen at TAFE Queensland Southport.
As part of the programme the organisers took the students to Dreamworld, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Murwillumbah Sunshine Sugar Mill, not only to have a fun me at a theme park on the Gold Coast, but also to encounter a unique Australian experience.
This compe on started on the Gold Coast in 2005 and was inspired to encourage Hospitality students to join the Hospitality Industry and become young chefs of
the future, an industry that is in need of employees.
NATIONAL HOSPITALITY CHAMPIONSHIPS
In August, our catering teacher, Mr Sco Buchanan, took the Southland Boys’ High School culinary team to compete in the Na onal Hospitality Championships in Auckland. Every member of the team came home with at least one medal:
