1ST V BASKETBALL
This year the 1st V had one of its most successful seasons in recent memory, losing just one Senior A Grade game early on in the season. We eventually went on to win the whole compe  on for the  rst  me in four years, with Soul Tipu, Jayson Colle  and Luka Williams all being named in the All-star  ve for the compe  on and Luka also taking out the league MVP.
Fresh o  our 104-48 blowout of James Hargest in the  nal, the team headed into Tournament week with good spirits, as we knew what we were capable of doing as a team.
Tournament week was made up of 24 teams throughout the South Island where the top 6 would be going to the na onal compe  on held in the North Island. The boys competed hard throughout the week and were unlucky with a couple of results. However, wins against Papanui, St Thomas, and Marlborough were enough to put us in a posi on to play o  for 9th/10th placing, which would be Southland Boys’ High Schools’  rst placing inside the top 10 ever.
However, an unlucky game against Christchurch Boys’ High School, that could have gone either way, unfortunately relegated us to playing o  for 11th/12th against St Bede’s in the last game of the tournament. It wasn’t just the last game
of the tournament but the last game for Soul, Luka, Jayson and myself, which gave the team extra mo va on to try and win it. However, a late fourth quarter run by St
