Gold, but we lost 9-1. Our second game was against Queensland. We were nearing our rst victory un l a change of pitcher followed by mul ple errors let Queensland win 10-4.
Day 3: Personally, I believe this was our best performance day. First up was U19 United South Island. We were in the game for
most of it un l USI put on their rst-string pitcher and catcher. We went down 13-6. The last game of the round robin for us was facing Southside S ngers and we wanted a win. A er a tough game and a player injury, we came out ed 8-8, leaving us 6th out of 7 on the table.
Day 4: The play o s were rained o , which meant unfortunately only the top four teams played on Day 5.
The tournament was a great learning experience for most of us as we
hadn’t played at such a level or against interna onal teams before. While in Australia we were also lucky enough to go to Movie World and Australia Zoo. A big thank you also to the Mainland So ball management team, and Southland So ball Associa on.

ISANZ DEVELOPMENT BOYS’ SOFTBALL
In late Term Three I le New Zealand, bound for a 22-day tour of Canada as part of the ISA New Zealand Development Boys’ So ball Team. Throughout my me over in Canada, I played about 26 games in three Canadian States, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta. I was constantly being put through my paces, playing a minimum of two games back to back each day, with very li le down me to see the sights of
a country on the other side of the world. However, when given the opportunity to represent my country for a second me in Canada I made the most of the opportunity and gave it my all. “I learned a lot over there and think it’s an amazing experience to go overseas playing the sport you love and experience di erent cultures”.
I plan to con nue to work hard with my so ball and possibly go back over to Canada next year to play for the Pimicikamak Thunder U19 team for a couple of months.
