Rosemary

                                             Remembrance, Faithfulness

Rosemary is a symbol of remembrance as its sent lasts for an
incredibly long time, and it is seen as an emblem of memory. It is given

to Laertes as a sign of remembrance and faithfulness. Because of
Polonius’s death, Laertes is in a state of anger and impetuous behaviour.

Unlike Hamlet, he is prepared to kill the culprit of his father’s murder
straight away. When Ophelia enters this scene, she is urging Laertes to

calm his mind, and to find the real culprit of the murder by remembering
what has happened. “there’s a rosemary, that’s for remembrance, pray

               you, love, remember.”

                       Evey Hammond

I would give this symbol of remembrance to Evey Hammond from

V for Vendetta, when she loses her trust for V. Although Evey—like
V—is angered by the restricting government, she does not like the

violent way in which V embarks on his revenge. As a result, she is
unable to follow through on an assignation, and ends up betraying V. In

this scene, Evey is battling her conscience and decides to run away from
the uprising that V has started. In the next few scenes, V goes out of his

way to remind Evey of why she decided to help him in the first place,
and to build her into the stronger individual. He did this because Evey

was starting to forget the significance of overthrowing the government,
and he wanted her to discover what it truly meant to her. As we can see,

Evey needed to be reminded of her past in order to uncover her true
intentions and her faithfulness to V, and therefore I would have given

               her a Rosemary for remembrance.
