                                                           learn about  the history  of the Jemez Mountain  Trail area.
                                                           Exhibitions,  self-guided tours, and ranger-guided tours are

                                                              The Jemez Monument ruins, known as “Guisewa,’  were home
                                                           –‘ –Ї ƒ…‡•–‘”• ‘ˆ –‘†ƒ›ǯ•  ‡‡œ ’‡‘’އǤ  Ї ’—‡„Ž‘ ™ƒ• Ƥ”•–
                                                           built in the AD 1500s.   The Jemez people lived a typical South-
                                                           western lifestyle.  They raised corn, beans and squash along the
                                                           Jemez River  and on the nearby mesas.   They hunted deer,
                                                           rabbits, elk and other game.
