Chairman James C. Gardner

Mr. Gardner was appointed by Governor Pat McCrory to serve as Chairman
of the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission in February
2013. He has served as Chairman of the North Carolina Republican
Party, as a United States Congressman from Eastern North Carolina and
as Lt. Governor of North Carolina. He also was a two-time candidate for
Governor. Mr. Gardner was co-founder and Executive Vice President of
Hardee’s Food Systems, Inc. and Vice President of Gardner Dairy Products.
He is a military veteran with service in the United States Army. Chairman
Gardner is a native and current resident of Rocky Mount. He was educated
in the public schools of Rocky Mount and at North Carolina State University.
He and his wife Marie have three children and nine grandchildren.
