            • The  faculty  of  engineering  at  Stellenbosch   ◊ Below: University of Stellenbosch
              University  was  established  in  1944  and  is  housed   ◊ Below Centre: Cape Peninsula University of Technology
              in a large complex of buildings with modern facilities.
              The  faculty  has  approximately  3  400  students  of
              whom  approximately  2  600  are  undergraduate
              and  800  post-graduate.  This  university  has  major
              research  activities  and  works  with  the  likes  of  the
              Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
              Model  studies  for  a  number  of  the  new  harbour
              facilities in South Africa were carried out here in the
              form of working models. They are also well known for
              environmental engineering studies.

            • The  Cape  Peninsula  University  of  Technology
              was established in 2005 and has roots that go back
              to two tertiary institutions of the early 1900s known
              as  the  Cape  Technikon  and  Peninsula  Technikon.
              Currently about 30 000 students enrol here annually.
              The engineering faculty has links that stretch all the
              way to Europe and in particular The Netherlands.
