            • Tshwane University of Technology is one of a se-
              ries of institutions that came about when government
              decided to transform the Technikons of the past into
              universities. This university is a modern campus on
              the hills northwest of the city centre of Pretoria and
              can cater for about 60 000 students per annum.

            • Vaal  University  of  Technology  attracts  students
              from all over the country. It is one of the largest resi-
              dential universities of technology, with about 15 000
              students  and  300  programmes.  Four  satellite  cam-
              puses  extend  the  services  of  the  university  to  Se-
              cunda, Kempton Park, Klerksdorp and Upington.

            10.     harties   Cableway   for   tourists   at
            Hartbeespoort  was  recently  rebuilt  and  conforms  to
            worldwide standards. It is the longest mono cableway
            in Africa and carries up to 500 visitors per hour to the
            top of the Magaliesberg from where 360° views across
            the landscape is possible.

            11.     Blue IQ projects and a series of interesting
            landmark  projects  were  initiated  by  the  Provincial
            government  to  enhance  the  Gauteng  economy  and
            provide  tourist  amenities.  Most  have  now  been
            completed  and  have  indeed  proved  to  be  welcome
            additions to the urban and surrounding environment.
